This little piggy liked cheese.

A few weeks ago I made a new friend – Vivek. He’s a super cool, smart and nice guy. We went to The Bourgeois Pig (www.bourgeoispigny.com). It’s a small restaurant located at 111 East 7th Street that gets packed. While waiting for a table we enjoyed cocktails – champagne cocktails!

Vivek had Bourgeois Royal – strawberry reduction and Pol Roger champagne. I had the Mardi Imperial – star anise, peychaud bitters, sugar and Pol Roger champagne.  We ordered a Tartine. It was absolutely delicious! The tartine is a buttery, flaky bread similar to a croissant topped with savory ingredients such as feta, spinach, onion and dill which is what we had. I thought it was the most delightful mix of ingredients to touch my palate.

A few cocktails later after enjoying the tartine we were seated at a table for what would become a 7 hour date. As we sat chatting, enjoying many champagne cocktails, we ordered a mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, and romano cheese fondue. It was cheese heaven! We dipped potatoes, bread, olives, pickles, and apples in the fondue. Fun! Later we ordered the baked brie in phyllo, another delectable dish – ooey, gooey cheese to eat with a teeny, tiny fork.

It was a great night and he made me a fan of fondue but not just any fondue – The Bourgeouis Pig fondue! I can’t wait to visit again and enjoy the same dishes plus dessert this time.
