Mental Health – not dirty words.
We all suffer at one point or another in our lives a moment, or longer, lapse in mental health. That doesn’t make us broken. We all go through emotional ups and downs for many reasons – childhood trauma, teenage years, family issues, relationships, work, life…
I’m not an expert on mental health. I do know that I’ve managed many emotions on my own since I’m young with out the help of a mental health specialist. I don’t say that’s right. It’s how I was raised and I managed. I can confirm I managed my emotions, spoke with trusted relatives and allowed myself that moment of – fall down, kick your feet, and cry. Then stand up, fix yourself, and move forward.
This doesn’t work for everyone.
It’s resilience that carries me through rough waters. For others, it does not. To that I say, please seek help. Own what you’re feeling and going through. Label it and call someone. Make that appointment and get help.
I’ve seen a Therapist or two over the years. I’ve done couple’s therapy. I have a sibling going through very rough stuff and her eldest child, whom is only 6, is traumatized by what has happened. This poor innocent child who should be focused on learning, playing and childhood is so scarred and broken. He’s undergoing psychiatric care. His emotions and cry for help can’t be ignored. The truth must be faced, labeled and put in it’s place so he can have a chance at a healthy, stable, successful life.
Please, if you need help, get it. Check out Tools 2 Thrive .
Remember – just because someone carries it all so well, doesn’t mean it’s not heavy.
