Don’t Let It Snow

It’s snowing! The majority of people are happy that it is snowing; I am not. As you know, I fell down the stoop two weeks ago due to a little snow and ice. I’m still contending with a fractured foot. As the doctor advised – stay off the foot! So, not only am I off the foot and stuck on my ass but now I’m truly stuck because of the snow. Getting around on crutches is a hard task. I stayed home all last week due to my injury and was looking forward to a change of atmosphere and catching up on work this week. I am able to drive to work because it’s my left foot that is hurt. However, with the snow on the ground I won’t be able to go anywhere.

I feel like a dark cloud is above my head since that fatal Tuesday, December 15, 2010. Please, please go away! I’m doing my best to heal which doesn’t take much to do because there is nothing I can do but wait, don’t put pressure on the foot and let it heal itself. Ughhh! It takes a minimal of 6 weeks before I’m going to feel better according to the doctor and friends. I’m ready now! I want to walk. I walk everywhere. I like to keep busy and moving. And let’s not forget about the need to work my butt off at the gym. I have things I want to accomplish. The most important thing is letting my foot heal so I can start school on February 1. I don’t want my pursuit of education and career derailed due to my foot.

I do think snow is pretty. It’s lovely as it falls so gracefully and covers the earth. It’s pure and clean for a bit and adds beauty to our surroundings. BUT I feel it should be left in the mountains for people to visit and not be inconvenienced by. That sounds scroogy but I promise I’m not. I guess these feelings stem from working for company’s all these years who don’t have any consideration for people not making it to work due to weather, illness or family emergency.
